Temporary kitchen hire FAQ: straight answers
Our temporary kitchen hire FAQ covers the questions families, insurers and fitters ask before they book. Can’t see yours? Check dates and ask us on the call.
Hiring the kitchen
How does temporary kitchen hire work?
You pick a size, tell us your dates and postcode, and we come back with your weekly price and delivery date. On the day we tow the kitchen pod to your drive, level it and connect it. When your new kitchen is in, we collect it.
How much does it cost?
A weekly price for the size you choose: 10ft Price on request, 12ft Price on request, 14ft Price on request. The cost page explains what sets the price and has a takeaway calculator.
What is the minimum hire?
Hire runs by the week, and you extend a week at a time if the build runs on.
How far ahead should I book?
Book when you book your fitter or builder.
Can I extend or change my dates?
Yes. Extend a week at a time once the kitchen is on your drive, and move the start date before delivery as long as we have that size free on the new date.
What happens on collection day?
We disconnect the power and the hose, wind up the jockey wheel and corner steadies, hitch up and tow the kitchen away. Tell us the date your new kitchen is working and we book it in.
Where do you deliver?
Put your postcode in the form and we confirm whether we cover it.
The kitchen
What is inside the kitchen pod?
Every size has an electric oven, 4-ring hob, extractor, sink with hot and cold water, microwave, kettle, toaster, cupboards and worktop. The 10ft has a fridge with a freezer compartment. The 12ft adds a washing machine, a tall fridge freezer and more worktop. The 14ft adds a dishwasher and a breakfast bar for two.
Which size should I choose?
10ft for couples and smaller households, 12ft for families of three to four, 14ft for bigger families and longer builds. Compare them in 3D on the sizes page.
Is it a proper kitchen or a camping set-up?
A proper kitchen. You stand at a worktop in a box you can walk into, cook on a 4-ring hob, use a full oven and wash up in a sink with hot water, with the lights on and the door shut behind you.
Do I bring my own pans and plates?
Yes. The cupboards are there for your own pans, plates, cutlery and food shop, so everything you cook with is familiar.
Your driveway
How much space does it need?
Room for the trailer, its drawbar and the door to open.
Can it go on the road outside?
It goes on your own driveway or private ground. If your drive is tight, send your postcode and a photo when we call and we look at it with you.
Who moves it into place?
Our team. We tow it in, position it, wind the jockey wheel and corner steadies down and level it.
Power and water
What power does it need?
It runs off your household supply. We bring the lead and connect it.
Where does the water come from?
Your outside tap. We bring the hose, connect it and run the sink hot and cold before we leave.
Insurance claims
Will my insurer pay for a temporary kitchen?
Many home policies include alternative accommodation cover, and a kitchen on the drive keeps you at home instead of in a hotel. Your claims handler confirms what your policy covers. Our insurance page has a script for the call.
Can you send a quote to my loss adjuster?
Yes. Give us the claim reference and the handler’s details and we send a written quote with the weekly rate and weeks.
Trade bookings
I am a kitchen fitter. Can I book for my customer?
Yes. Pick “I’m a fitter or builder” in the form, or become a trade partner on the kitchen fitters and builders page for trade rates and leave-behinds.
Do you give a referral fee?
Yes. Trade partners get a trade rate or referral fee on every hire they pass us. Ask us for the figure.
Check dates for your driveway
Tell us the size, the weeks and the postcode. We reply with a weekly price and a delivery date, and our team levels and connects the kitchen on the day.
No obligation. Extend a week at a time if the build runs on.
